You mentioned 'The commitments'...You almost needed subtitles on that one...If you liked that one, have you seen the two other movies made from Roddy Doyle books?'Snapper' NEEDS subtitles, and 'The Van' is one of my favorites.I read the book(the Van) and it was written in a heavy Irish dialect..IT (the book) needed subtitles!....Also,don't watch'Comfort and Joy' for a feel-good Christmas movie. It's central character is a radio d.j. who has just split with his girlfriend. He gets involved with rival mafia gangs who control the ice cream biz.Like I said, black humor(not violent)....For a favorite subtitled move, mine would be'The Gods Must Be Crazy'...Does it count if it is only partly subtitled?.....

Is anybody ever the Mom they want to be? Don't be too sure those other folks are doing any better than you are. P.S. You live in Michigan, don't you? I tried that for 11 years. The longest 11 years of my life (mostly because they were the first 11). I'll pack my bags & move up there as soon as you do something about that SNOW.

You don't usually do foreign film? How about British films? Some of my all time favorite films are British.I'm not a nerd, but I loved most of the Monty Python stuff(Life of Brian is my favorite).Have you ever seen 'Cofort and Joy'?A great black comedy/Christmas movie about rival mafias and the ice cream buisness.I have a copy of it that I have loaned out many times.Trainspotting? The Full Monty?Anything but those 'Period Pieces'set in 1700's England....Anyway,your comment about foreign films got me thinkin'.......

YES!YES!YES! I totally understand about the being 'that kind of mom', I am the EXACT same way. Because my son is in the first grade and a sixth grader stayed the night!!! I didn't know he was in the sixth grade until I had already agreed. My son is the same size as him...!!! So it went okay, till they had my son jumping fences and playing on a different street!! He HAS to stay on our street!!! He's only 6!!! I really feel awful for these other boys though, I mean their mom didn't even want to talk to me before telling her son he could stay the night, She doesn't even know where I live!!! Geez, I felt awful, the next mornign he practically yelped with joy as I made pancakes! I make pancakes just about every weekend. Anyways, I also have a hard time balancing, Instead of a Mrs. Cleaver, or Peg Bundy, I'd rate myself as a Grace under fire/Roseanne. Love ya's have a great weekend. Star

I would be worried about a 15 year old and a 9 year old. Thats a bit too much of a developmental difference for my comfort. Be careful.

Hang in there. There's nothing harder than figuring out the best way to let a person know that they are destroying both themselves And a relationship. Keep thinking, keep being calm, keep being supportive. The way to handle it will come to you. We're here in the background, doing the same for you. And sending some good thoughts, too. (Just cuz we like you.) :)
